FTW · Open source · Public beta

Your home's energy, planned to cost less.

FTW runs on a small computer in your home. It plans your battery, car and solar around prices and the weather, then runs them. Follow it live on your phone. Ask your AI why.

FTW for iPhone · Recorded from the app · Simulated home

01 · Savings

Example day · Simulated home · Swedish prices

Same energy. Cheaper hours.

Power can cost twice as much at six in the evening as at three in the morning. FTW moves what can wait to the cheap hours and uses your own sun first. You set the goals. FTW picks the times.

Example day · Simulated home

This day costs

64.66 kr

Average price paid 2.22 kr/kWh

The car charges as soon as it plugs in, at the day's peak. The battery runs empty early in the evening and waits for the sun.

  • Price per hour
  • Bought from the grid
  • Car charging
  • Battery stores
  • Battery gives
  • Sun

Car

It charges when power is cheap.

Plug in and set 80 % by 07:00. FTW picks the cheapest hours before then. In the example, that alone saves most of the money.

Battery

It buys low and covers the peaks.

A 20 kWh battery covers the house all evening, stores cheap night power or spare sun, and gives it back when prices climb. Losses count, so it only cycles when the gap pays.

Sun

Your solar stays at home.

FTW uses it in the house, the car and the battery before it sells it cheap and buys it back dear.

Limits

No hour runs over your limit.

Set a main fuse and an hourly import limit. FTW keeps every hour under it, so a peak fee or a tripped fuse does not eat the gain.

The example uses made-up but typical Swedish prices, a 20 kWh battery, an 11 kW charger and a car that needs 22 kWh by 07:00. Buying adds 90 öre/kWh in tax and fees; selling earns the spot price. Both runs start with the battery half full and end with it about half full. It is not a measured result: what you save depends on your tariff, equipment and habits. In the app, History shows what each of your days cost.

02 · The energy planner

Energyplan · Core · 15-minute steps

One plan for the whole home.

Energyplan, FTW's planner, looks ahead in 15-minute steps. It weighs prices, your solar forecast, how your home uses power and when the car must be ready. When anything changes, it plans again. Core checks every step before a device moves.

1In

  • Prices, hour by hour
  • Solar forecast for your roof
  • Your home's usual use
  • Car goals, like 80 % by 07:00
  • Main fuse and hourly limit

2Energyplan

The example day as the app draws its plan. Tick length: price. Cyan: the battery stores. White: it gives. Violet dots: the car charges.

3Core checks

  • Fuse and hourly limit hold
  • Battery stays in its range
  • Meter readings are fresh
  • Each device can do it

Stale meter data stops control. No plan reaches a device unchecked.

4Out

SentAcceptedMeasuredConfirmed

Trust what you read, not what you sent. FTW checks that each device did what it was asked.

Learns your home.

Solar and usage forecasts start from day one and improve with your own readings. No roof drawings needed.

Plans again on every change.

New prices, a cloud, the car plugged in or a new goal. The plan follows within minutes.

Says when it can't.

If the fuse or the hour limit puts a car goal out of reach, the plan shows how much is missing.

You choose the style.

From Careful to Bold: how much FTW should trust the forecast. Charge now is one tap; the rest of the home adapts.

03 · AI

MCP · FTW plugin · Your approval

Ask your home, in the assistant you already use.

The FTW plugin connects Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Cursor and Codex to your home through one MCP address. Ask why the battery is charging, whether the car will be ready, or get help setting up a new box.

MCP address, the same for every assistant

https://cloud.ftw.energy/mcp?profile=public
  1. In Claude on the web, desktop or phone, open Settings → Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector and paste the address. Leave the client ID empty.
  3. Sign in to FTW Cloud, then approve Claude in FTW.

Needs a current FTW beta with FTW Cloud turned on. No box yet? The setup guide in the plugin helps you install FTW first.

Why is the battery charging now? Power isn't free at three in the morning.

FTW

Assistant

This is the night's cheapest hour, 1.26 kr/kWh. FTW stores 3.6 kWh now and uses it from 06:00 to 09:00, when the price climbs to 2.35. After losses that still saves money. The car charges from 01:00 to 05:00 and will have its 22 kWh by 07:00.

You

Can you start charging the car now instead?

Assistant

I can, if you allow control. FTW will ask you to approve it on your phone. It lasts minutes, stays under your fuse, and the plan takes over again after.

01

You approve each assistant. On your phone with Face ID, or on your box's own page with the house password. End access any time.

02

Reading is not control.Assistants read by default. Control is a separate grant that lasts minutes, within limits your box sets. Lasting changes wait for you.

03

The box decides.Core checks every request. If the assistant, FTW Cloud or the internet goes away, your home keeps running.

04 · The app

Light means live.

The FTW iPhone app opens on your home at once, from its own copy. Only what is live right now glows. The past and the plan hold still, so you never mistake an old number for a new one.

iOS 26 or later, with widgets and a Live Activity. The app and the webapp both include a simulated home, so you can look around before you have a box.

05 · Get FTW

RASPBERRY PI + LINUX

Your hardware. Your core.

Run FTW on a Raspberry Pi or another 64-bit Linux computer. The guide covers native and Docker installs and the checks your site needs.

Install on Linux

Raspberry Pi OS, Debian and Ubuntu

Already running FTW? Follow the switch or update guide. The retired 2.x and 3.x lines get no more updates. Check that your meter, inverter, battery and charger are in the device catalog.

Moving an older installation?

Keep a full backup and your old data. On a Raspberry Pi, keep the old SD card and use a second card. Guided transfer of old settings and history is not ready. Stop old Core and its autostart before another Core controls the same equipment. If an install refuses the old layout, follow the guide before you try another path.
